Advanced Fruit and Vegetable Washing Machine Technologies | Multi-Method Cleaning Solutions

Efficient cleaning is the foundation of safe fruit and vegetable processing. Modern fruit and vegetable washing machines, widely used in fresh-cut vegetable factories, salad production lines, central kitchens, frozen vegetable plants, and fruit juice processing facilities, integrate bubble washing, ozone sterilization, ultrasonic technology, and vortex-flow cleaning. These technologies work together to remove soil, microorganisms, wax, and pesticide residues while improving yield, product quality, and operational efficiency across various processing environments.

At Fengxiang Food Machinery, we combine multiple cleaning technologies into one flexible system so processors can handle leafy greens, root vegetables and delicate fruits with greater efficiency and consistency. This guide introduces the core technologies used in our multi-method fruit and vegetable washing equipment, and explains how each method supports safe, high-quality produce processing.

According to the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, proper washing can significantly reduce contamination risks. Our industrial washing machines allow different cleaning technologies to be used independently or combined, depending on the material and hygiene requirements. It mainly includes the following five core technologies:

  • Hydroxyl Water Activation

  • Bubble Washing

  • Vortex Flow Cleaning

  • Ozone Sterilization (Optional)

  • Ultrasonic Cleaning (Optional)

Core Washing Technologies Used in Industrial Fruit & Vegetable Washing Machines

1. Hydroxyl Water Activation

One of the most cutting-edge methods featured in our equipment is Water Hydroxyl Technology. This process uses only tap water—no chemicals added. By applying an electric current through a specially designed generator, the water molecules are activated and broken down into hydroxyl radicals (•OH). These radicals are highly reactive and capable of degrading pesticide residues and killing bacteria safely and effectively. This chemical-free solution aligns with both environmental and food safety standards, making it ideal for organic and health-conscious food production.

2. Bubble Washing

Another key feature of our systems is the Bubble Washing Method, which uses an air pump and jet pipes evenly placed at the bottom of the washing tank. As air is injected into the water, the vegetable bubble washing machine creates strong bubbling currents that simulate the effect of a turbulent bath. This mechanical agitation helps remove soil and foreign matter from the surface of fruits and vegetables, especially leafy greens and root vegetables.

3. Vortex Flow Cleaning

Research published on ScienceDirect shows that vortex washing improves cleaning uniformity without damaging produce. We also incorporate Vortex Flow Cleaning technology, which utilizes the force of water rotation—either vertically or horizontally—generated by a pump. The swirling water forms a vortex that gently rubs the surface of the produce, detaching dirt, sand, and other debris without damaging delicate items.

4. Ozone Sterilization (Optional)

In addition to mechanical methods, our machines can be configured with Ozone Sterilization Systems, which are particularly effective for reducing pesticide residues. Ozone reacts with organophosphates and carbamate-based pesticides, breaking them down into water-soluble byproducts that can be easily rinsed away. Ozone also penetrates the cell walls of bacteria and mold, offering deeper sterilization at a microscopic level.

5. Ultrasonic Cleaning (Optional)

Furthermore, Ultrasonic Cleaning plays a vital role in our product lineup. By using alternating positive and negative sound pressures in liquid, ultrasonic waves create cavitation jets that reach into the tiniest crevices of fruits and vegetables. These micro-jets break down contaminants and residues efficiently. The intensity and duration of ultrasonic exposure can be adjusted depending on the sensitivity of the materials being cleaned.

At Fengxiang, our goal is not only to offer machines but to provide intelligent solutions for fruit and vegetable processing. Whether you're processing large volumes of lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, apples, or root vegetables, our machines ensure maximum cleanliness with minimum labor.

By combining environmentally friendly technologies with mechanical innovation, we deliver comprehensive cleaning solutions that address both food safety regulations and production efficiency. These machines are suitable for food factories, central kitchens, salad production lines, frozen food processing plants, and agricultural cooperatives.
